Main Characters

There are four main characters in the book, "Fahrenheit 451.” The main characters are professor Faber, Captain Beatty, Mildred Montag, and Guy Montag. Guy Montag is the guy who is a fire man that later on, who tries to look and save books from others who wants to burn those books because it makes them confused and they don't think it is good for them. Moreover, throughout the story, he changes a lot. So, I like Guy Montag because, he tries to save something that is valuable even though he might become danger. I consider him as hero because, if the story was true, Montag is the guy who can step up from the other guys and say "I am doing this, I don't care if you like it or not" and change it. So, I like Guy Montag.
Mildred Montag, who is the wife of Guy Montag who loves to watch TV has a problem Mildred is one of the character that is like the other people, in other word, in this story, she is the normal one. Throughout the plot, in mentions about people stopped reading and watch TV and fool around all the time. Moreover, she keeps attempts to suicide which I think it means that she has no hope, she doesn't want to live like this, she is in pain and that's why she is trying to die. I like Mildred Montag because it is the character that shows an example of the opposition of the main character which in this story, having no feeling to the outside world. Just watching TV is everything for her.
Captain Beatty, the boss of Guy Montag which is the head of the fire station, is another main character in this book. The contribution that Captain Beatty had made was that he kept persuading Guy Montag that book just makes people confused and it is waste of time to read books because almost all the books contains the same meaning to it. Moreover, he tells Guy Montag to burn the books and live like the way he used to live. So Captain Beatty builds up the tension of the story. I don’t like Captain Beatty because he only talks about the negative parts of the books and just wanting to destroy all the books because he have no feeling to the nature, to the world. Moreover, Captain Beatty is the antagonist, so I just don’t like him.
Lastly, Professor Faber, who is a professor that talked with Guy Montag before and that Guy Montag thought that the professor can help him. Professor Faber is one of the main characters. Professor Faber helps by telling Guy Montag that he is not the only guy who is feeling about the nature. So, he is one of the guys that are protagonist of the book. I like Professor Faber because he is a good person and helps the main character to solve the problem that he has.
The universal human experience that they reveal is that all the humans have feelings about everything; sad, happy, and love. In this book, “Fahrenheit 451,” most of the people does have feelings to it, it just described as them being concentrated in to the TV and trying to get rid of the books. So the universal human experience is that everyone has feeling to the nature, to the outside world and you cannot hide that.
