To me, both time setting and place setting of the novel is very memorable to me. The time setting is in 21st century, there have been two atomic wars since 1990. Then the place setting is around an unspecified city. It is disturbing in some way but also I like the setting because it is mysterious. However, the disturbing part of the setting is that it does not relate to what I know. You never know because it will be very different between 20th centaury and 21st centaury. So, it is disturbing because I can't picture the setting of the story. Since the time setting and place setting is mysterious, I think it is very interesting for the readers of the novel because we, readers can imagine how it might look like in the future, in other word, setting could be depend on the reader. Because it is unique, different from the other novels, it is very memorable. It is also unique, because, the setting is about having atomic war since 1990. I would never thought of a setting having atomic war among the world. So it is easily come to my mind and stuck in my head. I'm not sure about setting being beautiful because the setting is not meant to be beautiful since the setting is mysterious, I don't think it could be beautiful. In fact, I don't even think the setting could be anything positive such as happy, content or joy. It just doesn't match with this novel. Lastly, I think the author had thought about the setting a lot because it seems the setting is very difficult to think of it. In addition, I think the author is very smart to think of an idea like this. So, I really like the setting of this story because it is in the future and the setting is mysterious.

i read your blog! i thought your's was very meaningful and detailed. But i also agree that it was hard to see an image of the 21st century because we're not living it today. I always thought about the firemens wearing weird suits because technology would help them not die. I had so many images in my of how the future would look. Nano cellphones, tv's in your sunglasses, but i'd never think of something bad like this happening in the future. I thought the future would get better and better like from the olden days to the present day right now. Anyways, your comment was enjoyable to read :)
